Circus Wedding Shoot
I love every shoot I take part in, and I know like many other things, we're not supposed to have favourites, but my goodness, this one is absolutely up there! We were originally supposed to do this shoot in bluebell season, in April 2020. However, the closer we got to this date, the more obvious it became that we weren't going to be able to go ahead with it as planned so it was postponed until September 2020! We were lucky enough to have Justina as our bride who is an incredible aerialist, and the most beautiful wedding dresses to show the movement off! For the full writeup head over to Unconventional Wedding where this was published in December, and read on to hear about the 2 hair and 2 makeup looks!
Look 1 We were starting off with a white dress, and I knew Justina would be changing into a black dress later on, so I wanted to keep the makeup for look 1 really light, and natural, with a really deep, bold lip. The hair styling was a little more challenging. Sam had made this absolutely phenomenal headpiece, so I needed to create a hairstyle that I would be able to secure the headpiece into without it flying off. I also knew that Justina would be turning upside down on her aerial hoop, so I didn't want any hair getting loose! I created a very swirly vintage look, inspired by Ann Williams in The Greatest Showman. I knew there would be no electricity available for this shoot, so I got myself a gas tong, and I wish I had bought one sooner! It was absolutely fantastic and the curl held up just as well as a socket tong.

Look 2
With a darker dress and much more of a festival vibe, I wanted to add a lot more contrast to Justina's makeup, adding a lot of depth, particularly to her eyes. As my sister business, I also knew I would be adding some face paint and glitter, so wanted to make sure I didn't overwhelm the makeup to draw away from the face paint. I also changed her hair to a double festival braid to compliment the rest of the outfit change.
