Urban Styled Wedding Shoot at Kelham Island Museum
What a shoot this was! This is another shoot in which our plans had to change because of the last minute decision not to allow makeup artists back to work. I was lucky enough to work alongside Nicola Whitfield, another local cruelty free hair and makeup artist. The original plan had been for her to do all the makeup and for me to do all the hair. When the announcement was made that makeup wouldn’t be allowed in time for the shoot, I asked if she would like to split the hair with me. It worked out really well as we had 6 models in the end and it would have taken me forever to do them all on my own!
This shoot was published over on Brides up North, and you can read the full write up here. Below I will be talking about the hair styling I did, as well as showcasing some of my favourite images, with links to all of the suppliers below the gallery.
The Hair
So, with three different models, I wanted 3 different looks that would all work with the variety of dresses each of them would be wearing. First in my chair was Laura. I curled all her hair, and wanted to create one of my most asked for styles with her hair, so I created a loose textured braid into a relaxed bun. Next into my chair was Claire, who has had to change her own wedding plans due to the pandemic. She had the perfect hair to create one of my favourite, boho mermaid style braids, and it worked so well with the dresses she was put in! Iona (who was actually Claire’s sister in law!) was last in my chair, and I started out creating Hollywood waves, but when I got down and saw her in situ I decided to change it into a really simple knotted bun.
I have a couple of brides who were supposed to get married at Kelham Island Museum this year, and having not actually been myself before, it was awesome to have the opportunity to see the venue myself, and to see it set up for a really cool wedding!
