Vintage Garden Party inspired Bridal Shoot
This was such a gorgeous shoot to have been able to take part in, and whilst it didn't all necessarily go to plan (you've got to love that British weather!) It was my first opportunity since lockdown to do both hair and makeup, and I decided to get my airbrush out as well. I'm hoping to make more use of my airbrush going forward because I really love the finish of airbrush makeup, and there is an argument for it being more hygienic than a traditional makeup application.
Due to the restrictions, we decided that I would go to the venue to do Charlotte's hair and makeup before going down the road to our celebrant Karen's house to do her makeup so there were as few people at the venue as possible. However, when I was about half way through Karen's makeup, the heavens opened and the shoot was rained off. Ellie still managed to get some absolutely stunning images before they had to clear everything away, and you can see a selection of my favourites below! The Hair and Makeup
'Vintage' is a very broad term, especially when it comes to hair and makeup! The inspiration for this shoot was very vintage, but a 'vintage' wing with a bright red lip, or a dark smoky eye with vintage waves would have looked very out of place. I wanted to keep the makeup very natural and understated, with a hint of smoke at the outer corners of Charlottes eyes. We had some more gorgeous accessories from Ophelia Ren Bridal to incorporate, so if I had tried to put sharp waves into the hair, they would have been lost, and actually I think they would have jarred against the rest of the shoot. I went for a very classic twisted bun, with lots of texture, but maintaining a vintagesque silhouette. As I mentioned above, I decided to use airbrush makeup for the face, but I still applied the eye makeup with brushes. Charlotte had an absolutely gorgeous eye shape, and I could have happily kept adding definition, but I didn't want the hair or makeup to draw attention away from the other elements of the shoot.
