Sunset Bridal Styled Shoot in the Peaks
Updated: May 26, 2020
Back in September I was lucky enought o be able to take part in this gorgeous Peak District shoot, featuring a Sunset Elopement Ceremony! Our venue for the day was the beautiful Cressbrook Hall, before we headed off to Curbar Edge. This shoot has now been published over on Unconventional Wedding, so head over there for the full writeup!
The Hair and Makeup
For the First look at the house I wanted to keep Nattie's hair in a classic, soft Hollywood wave. With so much else going on with the flowers, the dress and our surroundings, I didn't want the Hair or Makeup to fight everything else, I wanted to keep everything effortless and relaxed. Because of the time of year, and Natties complexion, I wanted to create a slightly darker eye makeup with a matching darker lip, but without making the over all effect too heavy or dramatic, toning everything in with the flowers and our beautiful surroundings.
I had just switched my airbrush foundation range (which I will be switching out for a cruelty free brand hopefully later this year!) to the Mac airbrush foundations, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to show how beautiful and natural airbrush makeup can look. I also knew it would stand up to any adverse weather we encountered, either outside the house or over at Curbar Edge! Airbrush makeup really does have the most incredible staying power, and can be built up in fine layers to create a very natural, yet high coverage finish without looking or feeling too heavy!
Before we headed out to Curbar Edge, I changed Nattie's hair from the soft hollywood wave into some fishtail braids and pinned them into each other for a simple updo that wouldn;t get in the way if it got windy! Veils blowing gorgeously in the wind is one thing, hair getting in the way is quite another! We were so lucky to have such a gorgeous sunset that evening which made Natties skin glow beautifully, and enhanced the colours we had used in the makeup.
